Ok, sorry to bug youi guys on a Saturday....but I am looking for any kind of hhelp I can get.

I recently installed a dsl line...which seems to be working fine. But since last week, whenever I leave the pc for more than 10 minutes, it completely freezes up. I mean you can not get it to move at all. I have to shut down the pc manually (which can not be good). I have Windows XP running and Yahoo dsl.

Does anybody have any suggestions on what to do to fix this? It just freezes up...I can't move the cursor at all. I have tried drefagmenting the hard drive a few times and even that freezes up.

Let me know if any of you have any ideas or suggestions...thanks a ton!

LOL (reinstall your os) WILL NOT FIX THIS

Try doing this to find possible causes of your freezing.

Have you checked your CPU cooling fan? Is the CPU OVERHEATING?

U screen saver can cause freezing

update winXp using tools/windows update

SoundBlaster live 5.1 and windows Xp installed its own driver go to creative labs website and downloaded their updated driver for Xp.

If your video card uses AGP 4x, deactivate it in your bios. (I.e. set to 2x.)

Rites click My Computer and select "Manage". On the left, double click "Event Viewer". Rite clicks on "Application" and select "clear all events". Do the same thing with "Security" and "System".
This will clear all the "Events". Restart your machine. Then, after it freezes, reboot, check the "Events" in the 3 places that you previously cleared.
You should find some clues in there as to what happens when the machine locks up.
If you rite click on an event and go to properties, it gives you an explanation as to what happened.

Disable 'the background intelligent transfer service' (services for windows auto update)
