Hey man.. I had the same problem when i plugged in my xbox in my HD TV. I was stupid enough to read the panasonic HD manual, warning me to avoid playing videogames on it... and I did.. My green screen fades in and out sometimes.... Does anybody know whats happening?

FU*K.. now im screwed. My warranty for my HD expired... and my dad is furious on why our Panasonic HD Television isnt working. Why would Microsoft even bother making Advance Packs or HDTV packs if they knew the projection TV would get damaged... My Tv is a piece of $hit now unless we fix it

Just went to xbox.com & first thing I saw was a green screen!

As aside note, you can read the xbox faq at gamefaqs.com
"Psychedelic Effects
While playing a song, quickly press Y then X. Splashes of color will emerge from the small
jewel, in tune with the beat. Exit by hitting any button. You can also hit the 'info' button
on the DVD remote and the same thing happens "

Didn't you know that already? Don't play Video Games on Projection (front or rear projection) TVs. It will cause burn in or the 3 lamps in there gets messed up. (Even though the screen is constantly changing, sometimes when you pause. or say some health bars in the game. They remain at the same position the whole time - causing burn in etc)

XBox manual and PS2 manual always worn you about projection screen. It is HDTV compatible (XBox, but probably they mean Tube, possibly Plasma. I think Plasma may leave a burn in also, but I doubt it.)

Anyhow, play on TUBE TVs......

Thought everyone knows that.

It's on PAGE 7 of your XBox manual.

Jaymus

** Squad7 - That's wierd, you are saying your's isn't a projection? Is it a plasma? Are you running component output?, maybe one came loose?

If you remove all the AV connection from the Xbox, the green tint still remains?

Tube TV's have come a long way, now it is very unlikely to get burn in

Unplug tv all night & plug back in & see if this resets the green.

Also, if you didn't notice, tvs have a setup screen where you can adjust the amount of green on the screen. Change it from greenish to red.

well I have a tube tv and and the picture has a green tint just like squad7 says. My tv has 4 inputs and all have been affected. No color adjustments make a difference. Its as if that green xbox color bled inside my tv. Any way when I get it back from the tech I will post his findings if they are related to the xbox in any way. I just think it is more than a coincidence that someone would post the same problem days after i got mine.

i have repaired a few tvs and its the degausing thats effected the problem can be fixed using a magnet infront of the screen moving from top left to the right until all the screen has been done don't but the magnet on the screen just keep doing that and the green should go away.

that's good to try :) lhys09915

Wouldn't hurt I suppose. So those people with broken screen, go get a big magnet (find a used car speaker or something, the magnets on the back are usually huge.) :P

if you hook it up to an htdv, you should have bought the hdtv pack that lets you use it, maybe that screwed something up

Has anybody tried lhys09915's method yet, just wodnering because i have a friend who has got this problem and i just wanted to make sure it works before i go looking all stupid at his tv with a big magnet!

lol, wouldn't hurt would it? It's broken already, just put it in a brown paper bag and say it's a specialized tech tool specially for fixing that. Use plastic bag for red tint. hahaha, j/k.
No I dunno if it works or not.

i have a tube tv i think and i don't have a big magnet just little ons on the fridge lol yes i tried them but no effect

I have done a little *experiment* with this at one point in time on my tube tv.....ok, I was a little careless when moving the surround sound speakers to my system when I noticed the color change on the TV (yes, the tv has to be on, perferred to be a white, or "snowy" screen). and, depending on which side of the magnet (the pos. or neg. side), you will have a different effect.

BUT BE FORWARNED!!!!! If you hold the magnet in one spot for two long (about 1 COMPLETE second), the damage may be perminent. I would try this trick at your own risk. If you do decide to do it, be sure to CONSTANTLY be moving the magnet, and depending on the magnetic strength of the magnet, keep it about 1-1.5 inches away, moreso for stronger/larger magnets.

man, i can tell you from experience that zeniths are junk!

first of all, projection tv's + game systems = BIG problems

you prolly had an old zenith and fried the picture tube

what you need to do is this:

get a 14" flat screen hdtv, preferably sony trinitron or toshiba and build a projection box for it. you can buy the lens/instructions very cheep online.

trust me, these tv's are made really good, i play games on mine for days at a time and the picture quality is absolutely breathtaking.

and, depending on the size of the wall you project it onto, you can play your games on up to a 100 inch screen. you can actually adjust the size of the screen by moving the projection box forward or backwards. it's titties!!

not to mention you will have a 100" projection tv that is video game friendly for a few hundred dollars

Cheers!

hey
ive been playing vids on projection tvs for years...no problems whatsoever..some things u CANNOT do...pause the game for more than 10-15 mins....dont play longer than maybe 4 hours....then take a 15 -20 min. break shut tv off so the guns cool...
i had a mitsubishi 45" tv purchased in '91, and now i have a toshiba cinema series progressive scan 61" tv that i have been playing games on for 3 years....no problems. looks great. the older projection tvs were much more susceptible to heat and burn in than the newer projection tvs...
take it for what its worth to ya.

Jaymus
Oct 08, 2002, 01:48 PM
Ya, it's the pausing and also some games have constant graphics on same areas, such as Health Bars that never change. Burn-in's should be a thing of the past. TV's now a days are very good quality.

If you goto like goodguys and look at those TV that are on all the time. It's rare that you see burn in anymore.

Anyone tried the magnet trick people been talking about?

handyguy
Oct 08, 2002, 07:10 PM
degausing ?

A tv does that automatically when you turn it on.

lhys09915
Oct 08, 2002, 08:02 PM
yes but if the screen has gone green due to playing games then the degausing curcuit will not fix the problem.it may also not be the xbox thats caused the problem theres a component in the tv called a thermistor that controls the degausing.i have been repairing tvs for over ten years.

Hey lhys09915... If i were to repair my HDTV..how much do you think the estimate for the parts and labor can be? I dont want to risk doing that magnet trick and damage my TV more..

Thnxs

lhys09915
Oct 09, 2002, 06:52 AM
the price depends on who repairs the tv most likely around £50 even though the parts will only cost £2.people have brought tvs to me saying that repair shops were charging £70 to repair a dead set when at the most i could do for £30.they will still charge a high price for something like a risistor and tell you that there was other parts faulty.

the magnet wont damage your tv aslong as you keep the magnet moving.if the screen is already green then you realy have nothing to lose.
