I have a 30001 US PS2 w/ whatever the first mod-chip to come out was...Neo??? I have a GS2 w/ ver. 1.3 disc. I just copied burnout 2 and I can't load the game. What am I doing wrong? Or is my PS2 incapable of reading dvd-r's?
I used a Pioneer 104 dvd-r drive and recordnow Max to copy the game. And a memorex dvd-r (purple media)
any help is appreciated:)

You need to search for boot methods on the web for your modchip
such places like www.consolesource.com

If you have a Neo1 chip, I don't think it will boot anything but PS1 games.
Please give up you whole boot procedure, and what boot DVD are you using?

maybe I do have the neo 1:( I got the chip in either february or march right after it came out.
What chip can I get now that will allow me to play dvd-r back-up's? or should I sell my ps2 and buy a newer version?

You need to search the right forum......
Try Reading/Posting/Searching at the MOD CHIP forum on the board, it's THE FIRST message on the board. Read first, Search Second (Search for one word & more than three letters), then post third:
Mod Chips & Installation, Issues, Installers Etc. :

I don't know if it will help, but I have a v.5/v.6 PS2 with a No Solder Mod. on mine to boot DVD backups, here's what I had to do:
- Buy Devil May Cry game - LARGE Table of Contents (TOC)
- Load Gameshark
- Insert Devil May Cry disc
- Go to the screen to select a code - just toggle it (turn it on, then off)
- Go to the start game menu, then select without codes
- when the screen says it's updating the codes, do your swap trick to switch the Devil May Cry game with the Backup you want to play
- After this, the game runs perfect
Have fun! Hope this helps!
