gAm3 Fr3aQu3 Oct 06, 2002, 05:40 PM I'm having the very same problem....
MISKIN Oct 06, 2002, 06:01 PM i have the same problem im using the goldberg method 1.8.2***??? to over come that i used evox 1.8.458 burnt to cdrw boot of that then goto network .....then on my pc running xp start -run-cmd-ipconfig then it gives the xbox an ip then i connect useing flash ftp with the ip address the xbox was given ...works for me without any problems
hope this helps someone or someone could point out what ive done wrong???
kingkey108 Oct 06, 2002, 08:47 PM sorted it, this is exactly what i did
connect all leads, and have flashfxp, evox 458 (summat like that)
load evo x on xbox
goto network
eventually an ip adresse will appear automatically at the top of the screen
on pc
goto run, type in cmd, hit enter (thanks miskin)
type "ipconfig" at the command and hit enter
write down the ip addresse it gives you for your network card (subnet doesnt matter)
goto you your network connection properties, click tc/ip then properties
click use static adresse, then enter the adresse u written down, then click on subnet and it should appear automatically, (255.255.255.0)
then click ok
now go back to the xbox write down the ip adresse that appears after about 10 seconds at the top of the screen, then goto flashfxp, goto quick connect, enter that in as the url, type xbox as the user, and xbox as the pass word.....wheew
hats it
it worked for me...............thank f$%k
please bear in mind i am running win xp and already had a lan connection established
one last thing check your cable,,, i`d been trying to do thisall night on m 5 metre cable, nothing (bought it as a crossover) swapped it with my cable that i use for my lan (which i knew worked, also a crossover) and it worked
pps
sorry if its a bit difficult to understand
gAm3 Fr3aQu3 Oct 06, 2002, 09:03 PM I don't see any IP at the top of the screen......?
kingkey108 Oct 06, 2002, 09:20 PM don`t know mate but on mine it appears after about 30 seconds.sorry don`t think i can help any more?
MISKIN Oct 07, 2002, 03:20 AM gAm3 Fr3aQu3 just do what kingkey108 said everything should work fine i have no problems at all....make sure you use a crossover cable......
gAm3 Fr3aQu3 Oct 07, 2002, 10:14 AM I have a crossover cable and did everything he said. A networking icon on my computer has a little red X on it and it says, "...A network cable is unplugged" but everything is plugged and I don't know what's unplugged...
MISKIN Oct 07, 2002, 04:01 PM im using 2 nic cards with a crossover cable ...what setup do you have???? try a diffrent crossover cable maybe thats the problem ??
kingkey108 Oct 07, 2002, 06:07 PM like i said i was trying for ages to get them to connect with the new cable i bought when i got the executor chip, as it turned out it was the cable , gAm3 Fr3aQu3 have you got a cable that you know is definately working, i.e. does it work with two pc`s?, at first i tried with evox 2954 whatever it is , no matter what i couldnt get them to see each over, even with my tried and tested cable that is workin now but it wouldnt have it, used evox 458 (the older version) it`s now workin a treat (done quite a few backups using this method and just draggin the files into primo, using cal g`s method) YEE HAA.. cheers forthe help miskin, i`ll keep lookin on this thread to see how things are doing, also gAm3 Fr3aQu3 when you type cmd at the run box and then type in "ipconfig" does it give you an ip addresse for your network card or just your internet connection? when i tied with the dodgy cable, it did`nt give me one at all just my internet con, this is when i thought i`d tried my lan cable and in xp as soon as both xbox and pc were on and the network cable was hooked into both it gave me a message that it was connected straight away.......sorry to waffle just tryin to help, cos it was doin my head in summat cronik!!!
Jaymus Oct 07, 2002, 06:12 PM hmmm, there are two types of cable people.......Crossover is for straight PC-PC or PC-XBox (no hubs/routers etc)
There is also the normal network cable (ones you see almost everywhere at work) Those are for hookup to hub/router/switch etc.
Just make sure you use the right one for the right connection
gAm3 Fr3aQu3 Oct 07, 2002, 07:13 PM Hmmm..... maybe I bought a defected Crossover cable. I'll just probably exchange it and get another one...
