I have some vids that I want to save and get off my hard drive. I can burn those to R or RW but does it make a difference? I want to keep them forever with no risk of accidental erasure so I am guessing that R is the way to go but I am a little unclear if there is a "general rule" that you should use R for somethings and RW for others. I appreciate any feedback.

CDRWs have 2 advantages,
1 they can be erased and reused
2 The reflectivity of the disc is similar to DVDs so many DVD players that won't read CDRs will read CDRWs.

The advantages of CDR are
Lower cost
faster burn speed
More stable dye meaning they should reliably hold data much longer than CDRWs.
