Hi

I was hoping somebody could help me. I am having problems burning data using Nero (latest version). My PC either locks up, blue screens, or resets completely. I have no problems burning audio at all, but data from the harddrive is a 50/50 game of chance. This has been happening ever since I purchased the PC and therefore is not due to upgrades.
My system is below:

1ghz Athlon
512Meg RAM
Geforce2 Pro
Windows ME
CD writer (Teac CD-W512E) 12x10x32
Hard Drive 40gig Maxtor and 80gig IBM

Please, please can anybody help, I am thinking of getting a DVD writer but I am unsure as to whether the same problem may occur and dont want to waste my money even more...

Thanks

Anyone?...pleeeeease!
I think there may be some conflict between my drives and thew motherboard due to the fact that if I get a bad read from the dvd drive for example it can on occasion RESET the machine with no word of warning...

try updating drivers?
Report us the message of the BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death)
And then we'll try to help.
I think is 95/98/98SE/ME is that it gets that BSOD alot
I rather use 2000/XP
But Do report to us the error messages.

Dompletely remove all burning software and re-install. had same problem once. Also make sure you use the correct key for all software......

I have been in contact with TEAC, the manufacturer for my CD-RW, and they recommended the following to prevent some of the error messages “End Task on all open applications and only leave Explorer and Systray open before recording. Disable the DMA settings for all IDE CD-ROM / CD-RW / disk drives in your system under Device Manager.”
