I want to be able to take a DVD and instead of backing it up on to a DVD-R I want to be able to play the files from my hard drive. I have the ripping software but don't know much about the process. Does anyone know of an "idiot's guide" to ripping and playing from hard drive? Thanks.

Just use Smartripper in "backup" mode to extract all files, run power dvd and load the VIDEO_TS.IFO file to play the movie just as is is on the DVD.
