Im trying to burn discs at x2 in my pioneer a03, i have a pentuim 866 with 512mb ram, everytime i use any FWS or datasafe X2 disc the discs just spit out with error ten, ive tried setting the transfer mode to pio only and have flashed the drive to the x2 1.68 firmware and it still doesnt work. Anyone got any ideas cos im stumped! Pioneer and verbys work ok so i know its not the drive!

cheers

If it's not the drive, then it's the media. Just stick with the ones that work, and burn the junk @ 1X till you get rid of them, and don't buy them again.

ok here is a strange one for you, if i shut my pc down competely between burns it will then burn at x2, if i try and do a burn again straight away it doesnt work, think it could be to do with my motherboard or something, gonna put everything in a lesser spec pc tonight and let u know how it goes..

what software are you using?
tryu loading the blank in first so the drive picks it up and recognises it as a 2 x

Put the blank in the drive, watch the drive try to recognise the blank.
It may flash at you up to 100 times before the media is 'seen' by your
burner, when the light turns orange you are 'good to go'

Cheap media.... bah !

ok i swapped the drive into my athlon xp machine, i think its the drive or a bug in my firmware cos when i burn the first discs its fine, but try a second and it bombs..shut the pc down and cold boot it and its fine, tried it in 3 pcs and they all did the same, gutted..
