Thanks for the reply, I'd been there but the topic is about the 1000 model and not the 750.

There is another post about all this which says the 750 is, in fact the later model to the 1000 (it certainly looks better) so it should do all that the previous model does.

I've tried it out on all the others but not SVCD.

Thanks again

O think the best way for you to find out m8! is to pop over to BST and pick up an SVCD and try it out, may cost you a couple of quid, but at least you will know.

If it reads CDRWs, then you could create your own test SVCD out of any old clip and test it for free.

Yes it does play VCD's no problem.

Take a look through This Post (http://www.cdrom-guide.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5391) . I wrote a bit about it here towards the bottom of the thread (page 2).

Thanks for the Link Wide Boy, the problem detailed in the review I had also. The machine Locked up tighter than Camp X-Ray and had to be swiched off completely.

It turned out it was because my VCR was on top of it. I swapped them around and its been fine since (other than the fact that the DVD is wider than my VCR!!)

The bottom line is don't put anything heavy on top of it and its fine.

I took Celtic_Druids advice and burnt my own SVCD (cant beleive it went okay first time)

Didn't have any CDRW's about so I sacrificed a CDR.. It works fine on SVCD as well :D :D

So the pacific dvd 750 plays everything? dvd, vcd(cdr's), svcd(cdr's) and mp3's(cdr's)
and its macro and multi region hackable through the remote!
So this come recommended highly does?

Just bough the 750 today from Asda from reading all the recs here.

I'm new to this DVD game and have had a number of probs in getting it to work as it should. I've connected it up via Scart to my Thomson 28" W/S DPL TV, the trouble is no matter what settings I enter into the TV or DVD for picture it will not play DVD's in 16:9, just plays back in 4:3 letterbox mode. Also the sound is very quiet and if I connect the scart in my No2 Scart socket it only plays in B/W, but Sky digital plays in colour in both sockets.

I've got to be missing something obvious here, should it be connected by *just* a Scart lead? Crikey, I haven't even started on connecting up speakers or anything yet! :D

Also it seems to be picking up a very low signal from TV reception somehow and it comes out of the TV's speakers when playing a DVD.

Any ideas? :(
