Installed win2k on PC
Yamaha CDRW 4416 S (SCSI via advansys PCI - sCSI card), 1.0j Firmware version
Worked first for reading CD's
installed roxio Easy CD creator 5.0
(as administrator, no direct CD ...)

OS recognizes drive and says it's all ok,
but I think OS just believes its a cdrom, not a cdrw

I can put a CD in and it won't read it any more

Any good ideas?

thx

Read this tutorial on installing ASPI to Win2K (http://www.cyrus.troy.btinternet.co.uk/yaa2.htm), which explains the process and includes links to ForceASPI which you'll need for the ASPI install.

Almost all burning software needs an ASPI layer, something that unfortunately they don't advertise too well. It all comes down to an argument between Adaptec (now Roxio) and Micro$oft, but that's another story.
