THIS DOES,NT REALLY AFFECT THIS FORUM BUT I WOULD LIKE TO INFORM YOU ALL OF A NEW MENACE-= VIRUSED MP3s=- i had heard that various companies were intending to release various types of virused mp3s (for those of you who already know this i apologise ) how ever this is now the case and i would like to inform you i have already downloaded three yesterday they play alright on the pc but as soon as you rip them to WAV
they loop(like a needle sticking on a record)this is a new wave of virused music of which i beleive there are 6 types in their program to halt the on going onslaught of free music just letting you know because they might move it onto karaoke files because you will not be able to rip from WAV to mp3 just thought i,d draw your attention to this thanks folks!!!
if anyone has a similar experience or any other info i,d like them to post up please
thanks again
best regards

not as far as i know these are new and its early days yet, i believe this type of protection has already hit some CDs although i have not experienced this yet. these virused mp3s come in various different types
for eg some may delete themselves after 24 hrs or become unplayable
other may have information in the source code which enables companys to
find out information and others may infect other mp3s in your collection i really dont know!!! although i seem to remember something about a programme Stegomp3 a proggy which put info into the source code but that was about 5 years ago there will obviously be other types of which we will be uncertain until its too late !!!!! most people keep most of their mp3 on pc so something like this Could wipe your whole collection presumably!!!! i do know they are now virusing a lot of the newer and more popular mp3 songs .hope this helps you m8!! i dont want to sound alarmist but it would be a good idea to get your collection backed up
just now if you havent already!!! moves are happening in the music industry and singer/songwriters/companies want their money back and have probably invested millions to halt the mp3 revolution!!!!!! and as far as i know about recognising rogue files----No!!!

this kind of info is always good to have, I don't know if it affects us though (yet) we ourselves convert karaoke to mp3+G, its original form is wav. Cavs do make karaoke mp3+G, but also sell a very expensive program to convert to wav, so I doubt if they will introduce this type of 'virus'

YOUR PROBABLY RIGHT VINNIE, BUT YOU NEVER KNOW WHATS ROUND THE NEXT CORNER. MAIN THING IS THERES STILL OODLES OF MP3S KICKIN AROUND AND MOST OF THE KARAOKE SETS ARE AVAILABLE SO IT WO NT AFFECT US, HOPEFULLY!!! BY THE WAY I WAS WONDERING IF THESE VIRUSED MP3S COULD BE PLAYED WITH MEDIA PLAYER THEN USE SOUND BLASTER RECORDER TO RE-RECORD, IT WOULD BE A BIT OF FANNYING ABOUT, BUT MUCH THE SAME AS PLAYING IT AND RECORDING IT( LIKE A MIKE AGAINST A SPEAKER )IF YOU CATCH MY DRIFT??????? MMMMM
MIGHT HAVE SOMETHING HERE!!!
