Ok was reading some info and read about PUTTING mpeg1 onto dvd, does this work on dvd players once done and is their loss of quality, gain of quality or the same??

Or would re-encoding it be better in quality wise, playabilty and other important stuff??

As a general rule, you don't get better quality than what you put in, although with de-noising, colour correction, etc. you may get something marginally better out.

If you put a VCD onto DVD with no re-encoding, well other than the 44.1KHz to 48KHz re-encode for the audio, then you of course get the exact same quality, although you don't have to switch discs halfway through the movie.
