|Hi,

I have quite an old Compaq Pentium 2 (256 Ram), on win 2K. It is about 5 years old. I used to have Win 95 on it, and everything was fine. I have 2 connections on it:

1. Freeserve
2. Call Back Connection From My Company

Now ever since I got 2000, the freeserve connection freezes for about 30 seconds everytime I try to change website. It also freezes when I try to open programs, or even folders. But the call back connection works fine??? I have a 56K modem.

First I thought that it was my virus checker (Sophus), so I uninstalled that, but it is still messed up??

Has anyone else had this problem, or does anyone have any advice?

Thanks

P.s I may get broadband soon, will it also affect this???

i got a old compaq and was in a similar position as u. it was slow and froze alot. but i upgraded my HDD and put more memory in. and i done a clean install from 95 to ME. i wud do a clean install again to 2000. sometimes ur comp has loads of crap on it and slows it down alot.

HTH.

i had a 6 gb HDD but upgraded it to 20 gb HDD and upgraded 32mb to 128mb and done a clean install from windows 95 to ME. its much faster and smoother. ain't the best spec but improved. i suggest u do a clean install. if that doesn't work, buy a 20gb + HDD if u can afford it.

u probably got loads of programs running. if the ram is all used, the comp will use some of the HDD memory which slows down the whole comp. dunno if its relevent to ur internet.
