As long as you have the appropriate hardware and installed ASPI driver and manager is it true to say that using Disc Dump and fireburner it is possible to obtain a 1:1 copy (exact copy) of cd,s using the new safedisk and securom protection (ie without cracks).

I dunno about that software and Safedisc, but I do know that the newest version of Securom CANNOT be copied 1:1 with anything that is available today.

SafeDisc, from what I have heard, yes. Securom as said, not possible with any software.

nothing is impossible, just a matter of time.

CD's that use the newer versions of securom have different physical characteristics than blank CDR's. There for it is pretty much impossible to make a working 1:1 copy. You can't change the physical properties of the CDR, you can however emulate the original ones and there will soon be software capable of emulating the newer securom versions.

I,ve certainly been able to emulate Hotel Giant (a new securom title) using Daemon tools.Or rather using an image of a 1:1 copy (clone cd-using new securom profile)and loading it in Daemon tools virtual drive.

You might want to check the version of securom used. I think you will find that it is v4.77.00.0029 or earlier.

As opposed to the even newer securom protection of UT 2003 which is v4.82.xx.xxxx .Yes I think your right...has anyone emulated these even newer versions with Daemon Tools?

I understand you may need MDS files. What exactly are these?

MDS = Media Descriptor hmmm, not sure about the S. Any way it provides details on certain physical characteristics of the original CD which can't be replicated on a CDR, so that they can be emulated.

DTools doesn't work for current securom versions. I believe there is a beta version of Alcohol, which does at least emulate them with some success.

Thanks Celtic.I have heard that the Author of Clone CD is close to being able to copy the new Securom.

I find that very hard to believe. Clone CD has always been about 1:1 copies and I don't see how you can have a 1:1 copy when the media you are using is simply not capable of containing the same info as the original.

Then it would probably mean clone losing its roots so to speak.By that I mean it would have to have some kind of corrective measures that by definition would not produce a 1:1 copy.

Not going to happen. Goes against everything that Ollie has said in the past. Besides it may not even be possible. Emulation is pretty much the best bet at the moment.

Bummer.

No wonder the Empire Earth expansion has yet to appear in the clonecd newsgroups.

My friend picked up a copy of this expansion (Art of Conquest) and I was shocked when my backup wouldn't work.

The no-cd patch works ok though, although I prefer not to use them.

The latest version of Daemon-Tools is capable of mounting some newer securom games now. I'm sure that new MDS files will be released for other games too.

all this about 1:! copies are you guys saying no more back up cds or you just gonna have to do it the old way with the crack

No more 1:1 copies means just that. No more 1:1 copies. Obviously you can still have a backup if a crack is available.

Also Alcohol should soon be able to emulate current versions of securom.
