I got a new Samsung 19" monitor and can see two very faint lines at the top and bottom. I'm not sure if they were there when I got it as they are so faint I might not have noticed them before. Any ideas whats causing them?

I get that on my monitor, it comes and goes. I have an idea it may be that the screen is at a too high resolution? or you need to download a new graphics driver?

Guys relax. The two lines you see are because your monitors are apperture grille. That is what holds the grille on. Its perfectly normal. I have a viewsonic a95f and it has the same thing. Its a small price to pay for a crystal clear picture!! It is only noticable on white pages and very light backgrounds. After awhile, you dont even realize they are there. I love my apperture grille monitor and wouldn't trade it for a crappy shadow mask without the lines. Once again, small price to pay for a crystal clear picture. :)

Yes, it is. I have a Sony 100ES and I know for sure that it said they were supposed to be there in the users manual.

The picture tube in your Samsung monitor is obviously made by Sony. Any monitor that uses a Sony Trinitron picture tube has those lines. It's perfectly normal.

So how many people do you need to tell you it's suppose to be like that before you'll believe them? ;) Do some research if you won't believe anybody:

Irregardless of what the label says on the front of the case, the picture tube in alot of monitors are made by Sony.

As already mentioned.... its a small price to pay and you'll probably find it difficult going back to a normal screen after using the quality picture you're getting at the moment.

I had a lovely 17in Sony Trinitron which recently died. I went for a 21in Samsung which is nowhere near the same quality picture (a lot bigger though). Give me back my 17in Trinitron any day :)
