Hiya I'm due to get an x box soon and want to start buying games for it however I dont want to open it up invalidating the warranty so is there any chip that just plugs in or will i have to wait 12 months and then get a soldered chip ??

Sorry if this question seems a bit novice

I wouldnt wait 12 months mate, just invalidate the warranty anyway (You can actually do it if your real careful without knackering the sticker, and taking paint off the screw heads). Them 12 month warranty things are a big rip off anyhows, the shop will try and sell you extended warranty which includes the pick up / delivery (hidden) cost that microsoft dont tell you about to fix your xbox each time something goes wrong with it, basically you could easily double the price of the box with warranties alone, so I would invalidate it/chip it and if it goes wrong then ask for help on here to fix it..

but no, the non solder mod still needs the box opening for it to plug onto the circuit board. The only dongle that plugs into the joyport is to allow you to play DVD's (Non ripped ones)

there are no chips available now that just plug into a port. the xodus chip is a no solder, but you have to open the case.
