View Full Version : Is there a free newsgroup or one that allows unlimited downloads??

If this isn't allowed mods, let me know. I'm not asking about links on where to download games, just if the following newsgroups exist.

I used easynews on a trial basis and it's great, but they have a 6GB cap. I hit that in less than 12 hours...I'd be happy to pay for one that is unlimited.

Any help would be great. I'll offer anyone a few DVDR backups if they can help me out.

Again mods, I'll remove this post if this isn't "ok."

Forget free providers, they will be a pile of shite!

The one i use is www.claranews.com £99 a year for unlimited downloads.
There is a monthly package also, but it's cheaper to sign up for a year.

And keep your backups, i'm already sorted thanks.:wavey:

I might do that as well Unr3al.

I have no problem paying for one, just don't want a download cap. I just tried claranews and it wasn't working??

Their home website is working, but I signed up for a trial and couldn't get it to work.

You got the newsgroup to work?

i don't know abot the free trial, but the newsgroup is working. i'm getting bloodrayne now.

If you signed up ok, then just enter news.claranews.com in your newsreading prog, and your user name/password of course.

Hey GoBlue34,

I've got access to an FTP, I've put up a few XBox games, but it would be nice to do some trading, I'm sure I could sort you out with a username.

First of all, there is no such thing as a free newsgroup, which you mean is a free newserver & yes there sure are, they come with your Browser they are called Public newservers. If you read newsgroups with your browser you'd see a list of them, or search the net for them.

Now whether they have the newsgroup you want is another matter. Most don't have binary ones, not surprising.

BTw, if you can afford that fast net connection you should be able to afford a decent newserver like newscene, altopia, supernews, etc (I get unl newsgroup download free with my ISP because I choose my ISP based on their newserver, see? )

Already signed up for one (and I'm even paying for it :)

You are correct, I meant newsserver...

Using your ISP's servcer counts as a "free" server. Anyway, I have Road Runner and use their server, which is 100% free, and also 100% unlimited, with access to all the groups.

I have AT&T broadband Cable internet service, do you think they also have newsserver or whatever it is called.
Sorry I am new to this.

Can somebody explain what can you do with this? How does it help?

did they?

I got Supernews. Its pretty nice, you never hear of it anymore.

Altopia used to buy the feeds from the others, like AT&T so they had a huge nbr of posts......they said they paid AT&T $65000 per month......
