I have an ASUS P4B533-E Mobo and the Plextor 40/24/40. The drive in on the first IDE channel by itself as the master. On the secondary IDE I have another cd drive and a hard drive. My boot drive is on the Raid controller. I have problems reading from the drive. During software installation the drive will sometimes freeze up and not respond. (Been using the other drive to install)I have no problems burning disks. I have updated the latest version of the intel application accelerator but I contunue to have this problem. I have also checked the DMA settings and they are correct.

Does anyone else have this mobo + drive?

Could it be the media or defective drive?

I also used Nero CD Speed Check. When the drive got to 40x it stopped responding and dropped to zero before the test was complete.

Any thoughts?
