I've just been sent the new version X-box to be chipped.

this probably aint much of a help...but try and put in some different chips, and take them out if its a no go.

I read somewhere the X-tender team were close to completing a new chip to be released in a few weeks which had overcome the M$ changes to the new Xbox.

Can't remember where tho m8 sorry

Right I've just tried the X-ecuter1.0 bios, no joy. Red and green flashing lights.

I'll check my solderings OK, which it will be, I'll move straight onto Evo2.5

There's an article on the PC Pro web site about this..... http://www.pcpro.co.uk/front_index.php?ip=1&page=%2Fnews%2Fnews_story.php%3Fid%3D33615

Apparently they worked it out within a week of it being released or something!

Stusy, will the change in board delay shipping any XBoxes ordered from you?!

Cheers.....

None of the current chips will work with the v2 or v1.1 as it is known by.
xecuter are releasing a new chip soon which works with it also you will
beable to chip it with a sst chip connecting it to the lcp of the xbox.
but nobody as release any of the new bios yet so you will just have 2 wait
a couple of weeks untill they do.

Not unless all the ones I buy tomorrow are the new version

There are still plenty of V1's about so you should be ok.

There is no chip available yet, however team x-ecuter have a bios ready that will work. They say that they will release this bios when they have 'finalised' their own new hardware.

Yes LPC mods will work as will removing the onboard bios and reprogramming, you chosen method I believe!.

Well as far as I am aware X-ecuter V1.1 will NOT work in the latest xbox.

From V1.0 to V1.1 of x-ecuter the only thing changed was hardware and it was released before a new version of the xbox was known, so am extremely sceptical that it will work in the latest xbox. Unless they have updated the code and left the revision the same which does not sound like something wise nor something I think they would do.

The white ploystreyne in the old packaging was, if you can imagine at top and bottom of the X-box, now its either side. It also has a cardboard insert.

the main noticeable diffrence is the box itself .The v2s come in a shiney black finish and the v1 come in a matt black finish.

Do they, can't say I noticed. Must be the poor light in my house. I'll take a look at that later.

the most simplest way to tell is to lift up the packaged xbox turn it around , there is a big hole on the back , and when you look through it you can see the date it was made , how difficult is that!, if its a v1.1 then just dont buy it say you forgot you wallet :)

What is the cut off date for v1 consoles? What date should I look for on the bottom of the console to ensure that I get a v1?
