I want to be able to record my own songs onto cd with my vocals. I have the hifi units, the karaoke machine and the cdrecorders etc.
Do I need a type of mixer desk or something so that I can mix the vocals onto my karaoke tracks while recording.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

try recording to minidisc first, that way if you don't get it right first time you can record over, you will also be able to edit the ten second 'intro'

or use your computer and get a program called cakewalk it has many effects and filters you can add to you mix and you can get quite a good professional recording...
you can record on different tracks then mix the mtrack seperate and if you sing part of the song wrong and want to redo it u can just record that part again the same as the ydo in the studio then mix the vocals together another thing is you can add your own backing vocals
i have done this a few time and it sounds sweet
i put a 3 part harmony onto on song and it came out exellent
