I keep getting strange green lines at the top of my screen, I have changed monitors and it still does it, I have installed a new HD with Windows ME on it (had Win 98 before that). This has made no difference, also, since these lines have started appearing my PC has been crashing or switching itself off. does anyone have any ideas?
I have a feeling it may be the graphics card, but it is built into the motherboard, if I put a new one in will it totally bypass the old one and stop it crashing?

I had the same problem. It was my motherboard. However, it didn't have integrated graphics.

If it is a problem with the graphics card getting a new one will solve the problem, but you must be sure what the problem is first. Did this start happening with the new HD or was this happening before you installed the new HD?

The graphics on your motherboard can be switched off in your BIOS. It would be worthwhile seeing if you can borrow a grafix card from someone and trying it. If you have changed monitor then the likliest culprit will be your grafix...
