I've burned a lot of games, but am just starting to burn PSX games.

In a lot of the tutorials I've read on burning PSX games, it recommends that you read and write at 1X. Needless to say that if one needs to burn a decent quantity of games, that's gonna take a while.

How important is it to burn and read at 1X? If so, why?
Is 2X, 4X, or even 8X ok?

I would suggest you burn it at 4X or lower on quality CDR. Most PSX have weak lens.

I guess I don't understand what difference the burning speed makes on how easy the disc is to read. Isn't the data just data?

Does anybody have a technical explanation?
