I have read on the newsgroups that this game can jack up your Xbox. Has anyone had any problems and is there anything I should avoid before I put this in and play.

Mitch & Murray Oct 19, 2002, 06:32 AM Surely Microsoft arent going to add to the **** sales by destroying their own consoles ? They should hijack all trucks carrying playstation 2's and blow em up......... ][H2o][ Oct 19, 2002, 06:33 AM i have this release. ive only tried it to make sure it booted up fine and had a little run about on the training part. i must admit, the game looks like its going in slow motion and it gets a bit jerky. dunno if it just me being paranoid, but ive decided to lay off it for a while. however i do know of ppl playing it for hours solid and its been fine, so nothing to worry about :) diskdocx Oct 19, 2002, 08:40 PM I think the problems have been with people trying to go online - something gets downloaded to your console (xbox live) which interferes with your EvoX dashboard. This isn't a form of protection, just a glitch with the online part, and easily correctable JBNinja99 Oct 20, 2002, 04:56 AM the update from xbox live doesn't interfere with the evoX dashboard though. i updated my dash from evoX to the live dashboard, then i reinstalled evoX back onto my xbox. no problems while playing beta yet. and i don't see how it could be a problem. i mean if you needed to access the live dashboard all you'd have to do is launch it from the evoX menu. jb Game Master Oct 20, 2002, 09:09 AM people need to stop spreading these bad rumors... the fact of the matter is microsoft cant produce any kind of software that will damage that you, the consumer, has paid honest money on and chose to modify it in any way that is perfectly legal by law. if they produce such a disk that will damage your system, not only do they have to replace it, but they can actually be forced to replace it back to its state right before it was damaged, meaning chipped and all. the laws are perfectly clear, the selling of modchips may be illegal some places, but the use of them definately is not. kind of like a hot box, no one can seem to find them for sale, but theres nothing illegal about owning one. danman Oct 20, 2002, 09:43 AM The interesting thing is though this games a beta. If it were to feck up your box, are they not exonerated from blame? After all it's a leaked release, joe public shouldn't have it. I'm not for one minute sugesting this is the case as I dont believe that for a minute. However it would catch a lot of the modded boxes out whilst leaving them blameless. As I say, not the case I'm sure but thought provoking all the same. Michael14100 Oct 20, 2002, 10:28 AM i hear the problem is when ppl goto the option to go on line it updates the dash but to nothing so obviously this option isnt included in the beta so 2 options really wait for the retail release and do what u did b4 hehe or someone said it cant be fixed using xploder Syxx103 Oct 20, 2002, 07:09 PM Originally posted by Game Master people need to stop spreading these bad rumors... the fact of the matter is microsoft cant produce any kind of software that will damage that you, the consumer, has paid honest money on and chose to modify it in any way that is perfectly legal by law. if they produce such a disk that will damage your system, not only do they have to replace it, but they can actually be forced to replace it back to its state right before it was damaged, meaning chipped and all. the laws are perfectly clear, the selling of modchips may be illegal some places, but the use of them definately is not. kind of like a hot box, no one can seem to find them for sale, but theres nothing illegal about owning one. I truly agree and excellent Sig Michael14100  Spree8nyk8 Oct 28, 2002, 10:22 PM it isn't a rumor. Replacing your xbox live capable dash with evox can cause an error when using a live disk that will overwrite the dash. b/c the dash will only look for msdash.xbe and overwrite. I have been lucky once and when it overwrote the dash it didn't mess me up. My best friends did though and he had to use his backup of the C partition to fix. I think it's you guys that need to stop spreading the rumors. If you don't have a full backup of your C: partition and your using evox this is dangerous and your going to lose your system. Then your going to need to get a copy of someone's C: partition to rescue it. As for complaining to MS are you kidding me? You voided your warranty the day you inserted your chip. So did I? You won't get anything but lauged at. MS didn't make anything that would damage your system. You made an unrecommended change and MS made a necessary update. Don't tell people that things are safe if they are not. We all need to know the facts. It doesn't mean you can't use EVOX it just means you have to know the facts first. |
