When burning an mp3 disk the first 90% takes about 2 ½ mins, the last 10% takes about 14 mins and it also seems to get slower and slower the closer it gets to 100%. Then it finally shows ‘Track following error’ ‘Invalid writestate’ ‘Could not perform EndTrack’ and finally ‘Burn process failed at 48x (7,200 KB/s).
Yet another coaster!! Any ideas how I can combat this. I have tried reinstalling Nero but no luck.

Sounds like a medium problem.

Try a different brand of disks.

Disks are burnt from the inside out. as the disk fills up the laser has to cope with faster rotational speeds and so somtimes has trouble keeping up.

I expect this only happens when you burn a full disk. Try just putting a few songs on, say, about 50Mb worth and see if it fails then.

When you specify a burn speed e.g 32 speed, the disk doesn't reach that speed until it gets well over half way through the burn process when the disk has been more than half filled.

Try Nero CD SPEED (in the Nero toolkit). This demonstrates quite well how the burn process starts off slow and speeds up as the disk fills.

AT 48 SPEED U NEED TOP CDS M8!!!

I think I just got carried away when I bought my new burner and didn't take into consideration what CD's I'd be using.

I might have ended up with a few coasters, but hey, they were burnt off bleedin' quick!!!
