Hopefully someone out there can help me!

I'm just new to the world of PC gaming, but I'm experiencing some probs with a couple of cloned PC games, namely:

GTA3
Colin McRae Rally 2
MOHAA

Colin McRae Rally 2 gives me an error message linked to the .exe file when I try and run it. The 2 other games give me an error message - "Cannot locate the CDROM...Please eject and re-insert the cdrom, select OK and restart the application. "

It's not the copies I have cos they've been tested on another PC (twice!)

I'm running Windows XP, do u know if the games run OK on XP? Do u think I may need to download a patch or summink!?!

Any help would be much appreciated, so feel free to email me directly if its a lengthy answer! Email - whytey@naff.co.uk

If only it was as simple as playing games on PS2 :(

you could try using the compatibility mode to see if they run under win 98 etc?

The VGA forum has more info on this BTW

Some protection methods can detect whether the disk is a CD-R or an original pressed disk.

Clone CD makes an exact backup so the protection is copied also, when the game is run, the CD-R disk is detected and it knows its not an original disk.

To overcome this, Clone (later versions) include a Tray icon which also acts to HIDE CD-R MEDIA. This means the protection can no longer identify the disk as a CD-R.

This may not be your answer but make sure you have Clone CD installed with the tray icon present, right click the icon to ensure Hide CDR media is checked and try the game again. [/Waffle]

Also I know both GTA3 and MOHAA are protected with SafeDisc2 which does by the way use the above mentioned ATIP check. 1:1 copies of SD2 CD's made with certain hardware may work fine in some drives but not others.
