I just bought a Presario used that has a Acer CD Rom. The cd worked perfect and I must have done something cause now it will not run any program CDs. The XP format has got me all confused to start with. I can not reload Windows because the drive CD will not run. Lights are on and music can be played through a head set but when I click it for a program it says Please insert disc in drive M and I do and it says it again and again and would probably do it for the rest of my life if I let it.
I did install a Belkin Ethernet card to hook up to my other PC (win98 se). I was on-line for awhile but then I took the card out to see if that was my problem.
I have made bootable disc to reinstall Windows (6 of them) and I can't figure out how to make them run in XP home edition.
Can anybody help a drinking man from North Carolina out out ?

i think i heard all those 6 bootable floppies does is just let u boot into windows. it doesnt boot into dos prompt. u could try a windows 95, 98, Me, boot disk. thatll work. im running xp pro. but just make sure ur drive is fat32 as those disks wont work if ur drive is ntfs. u could use partition magic to convert it to fat32 first if ur drive is ntfs right now.
