Could someone tell me how to flash my Lite-On burner with the latest firmware? I have downloaded the latest firmware, I just need instructions on flashing. Could someone also tell me the best way to boot to a pure DOS?

It's not a DOS flash to begin with m8, almost all the LiteOn firmware is now all Windows based.

Heres how you do it safely.

1) Switch off DMA and re-boot.

2) Disable your A/V software.

3) Make sure that there is no disc in the drive and flash.

4) Re-boot, re-enable DMA.

HTH :)

I guess you didn't notice when downloading, but there are instructions on the Lite-On firmware page: http://www.liteonit.com.tw/english-load-how.htm

Also you might have noticed: It's not necessary to upgrade the firmware of your opto-drive unless you meet problem. which is their "match more media" way of saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"
