We love receiving pictures and the ones below are no exception, today in our inbox from an annoyomous email account (don't you just hate that?) came these pics showing Nintendo's little box being ripped apart, the email reads "We now understand what happens, how it boots, what it looks for, and what it gets back, we are close... keep watching...." thats it... we will wait and see what happens...

The chips is a mod, the disc will depend on whether the case is left on so if you want to use mini dvds you can leave case on, if not and you will use some other cd? you can leave case off.
It is currently at 60 wires and going.

but i dont understand why its on top of the PS2?

i think it's as a way to say that nintendo has taken over the mod scene, we'll see, i may have to buy another gamecube if that's the case

ok, so i've starred out names to protect the innocent, but i do hope that this makes people realise this has been going on for quite a while now, its not just something new.

oh and as i said elsewhere, the bottom half of the ps2 is simply to stand the chip on, dont read anything else into it.

A few months ago there was a couple of full AVI's that supposedly showed the GC being hacked and booting a backup. That turned out to be fake!

Now someone releases a couple of pictures from another "reliable source" and we're expected to believe that too. It's not that hard to fake a few pictures.

Personally, I won't go celebrating just yet...

Yeah.....I'm with you on that one. I won't beleive it until I have a backup boot up in my Cube!!

pessimisam comes with the job i'm afraid, who believed the first vids of the xbox crack but they were true, there have been too many vids done of gc cracks all were fake so whats the point of making another, you'll see it in your front room then you will believe untill then just keep telling yourself its a fake, cos frankly i dont care one way or the other.

Yep, may be persuaded to get a GC if this is true. Already have an XBOX + PS2 as well! I have always said that most ppl only buy consoles when they r hacked.......

gamecube is not that good of a system anyway

the only reason they are even selling systems is because of the games that nintendo makes that aren't even that good

Just had the nod that as of 2:30 a.m. BST today the whole project is now off. The major financial backer of the team has pulled out, it seems they were only one week off from completion too.

It will still happen of course, but now it will take a bit longer.

Damn. I assume that they will be limited supplies too, and the price of em will probably be sky high........

I am not sure if I understand. Why do they need backing to crack the gamecube? Does this mean it is a backup device such as the z64 or something the needs to be manufactured?

PLEASE, don't flame me for this, but an IT contractor of mine claims that he wrote a "software loader" for the cube and has been able to play *some* backups on it. Those are his exact words- I have not seen it in action, though.

OKAY, I just spoke to him and, apparently, it's not the Cube itself that was hacked, rather he added his software loader onto the backups.
Anyway, he said that he'll get w/his partner and email me the directions on how this is done. If he actually comes through, I'll post 'em here. Dude can be flaky, though, so don't hold your breath..
Again, I'm just relaying what this guy is telling me. I am NOT trying to mislead anyone. If this comes up as BS, I'll post that, as well.

The "software loader" was, supposedly, burned onto the backup (mini-dvd.)

Naw, seriously, he's an employee of mine, so I doubt he'll wanna throw down w/me :) . Still, If he's full of it, I'll post that, too.
I think ppl understand that this claim is still second-hand, and that I'm not trying to BS anyone. I promise to update you guys once I've seen it work/not work for my own eyes. Until then, I don't think I should speculate anymore on this topic, as I don't wanna piss anyone off.

mod development costs can run to six figures (or on something simple a lot less) , then there is getting a factory set up, dealing with distribution and retail, dont forget all that must be done without having a way of tracing back to the source so it costs a lot more than normal :(.

there is a lot of money to be made in the chip game, but the risks and costs are high, in some cases too high so they need to be spread.

its important to remember that the gamecube is the most sophisticated console ever made so its going to be the hardest and most expensive to defeat.

@ flip, i'm afraid its going to be bs, its truely unlikely that your employee would have access to the 29 iso's that were made ;) and for what its worth even if he had, to defeat the barcode reader requires something to bypass it and that cant be done from a disc (which is why datel still hasnt got the freeloader out, they cant make it work on a standard cube even though the have bought the correct pressing equipment, if your man has managed to find a way around that then i and every other team involved in mod design should truely bow down before him :D
