Hi All
I just purchased a new NEC NR-9100A CD RW to use under Windows XP Professional. I can get it to write CD's using Nero with no problem, but it will not read any kind of CD - not even pre recorded ones. I can see what files are on the CD and I can browse through the directories, but when I try to open or copy a file I get an error such as "cannot read from the specified device".
It is, however, able to read and copy really small files - less than somewhere between 4.18 KB and 4.5 KB in size (not sure of the exact limit).
The odd thing is that there is nothing mechanically wrong with the drive, it CAN read CD's properly - I managed to boot from the Windows XP CD and completly install XP using the drive, and it also works fine in a different computer.
