I have a 40x lite-on and when i burn the light on the drive flashes orange and red. it's the first time i've noticed this, my old lite-on just stayed the one colour, any ideas why it does this,
p.s. burning is ok.

green is reading data orange is waiting for data and red is writing data your burner may need to waitt for data sometimes depending on where it is coming from for example when I try to copy vcds from my DVD rom to my burner the led turns orange when the buffer drops to zero the buffers then build up and the burner begins writing to the cd and the led changes to red

You have to change your nero preferences to allow for a certain amount of overburn. Go to preferences, then expert features. Check off 'allow disc at once overburn', then set the amount of minutes that you would allow to overburn. I wouldn't suggest going over 85 minutes, I don't know about everyone else.
