View Full Version : failed hard drive controller [Fujitshu; x565; winNT4]

The hard drive controller has failed, no probs I thought get a PCI ATA card and it will be fine. Wrong the new card (maxtor Ultra ATA/133 PCI) needs its software loaded on before it will recognise the drive and therefore work. I can't do this as CD rom also works of original controller. Even if I try to install say 98 I can't as have no working CD.

Can anyone help, suggest a solution?

you need to download the drivers, and load them when installing...

do you mean the cd drivers or the new card drivers?

hi i think he means the software for your cd drive to run........
as it needs software
have u tried to delete the cdrom drive or hard drive and let windows auto
pick up in windows

cant get to windows disc as new card's drivers need to be installed before i can read drive. I am going to try a clean install, wish me well
