bleepster Oct 23, 2002, 12:30 PM is your ps2 chipped?
Pschyco~Jerk Oct 23, 2002, 12:41 PM nope, i use the knife trick and the ar2... I have tried opening the ps2 tho and taking out some stuff and putting it back in, just to check if something got stuck or loose....
Jaymus Oct 23, 2002, 02:41 PM can you play any DVDs like movies? You can still play CD based games?
Your laser probably just gotten weaker. Try cleaning it first (both laser and media), then if that doesn't work. You can always adjust the POT, do it as a last resort, because you may mess up the laser completely.
You can always get a new laser for it.
bleepster Oct 23, 2002, 02:43 PM if its knackered claim it on your home owners or renters insurance.
tell them the truth - it got dropped. it might be covered
Pschyco~Jerk Oct 23, 2002, 02:50 PM hmmm thnx guys
Jaice Oct 23, 2002, 09:03 PM Its busted, do a walmart swap
Pschyco~Jerk Oct 26, 2002, 12:44 PM no i dont think its busted, i brought it to this man who knows alot about electronics (sadly not about ps2) and he gave it a shot.
Well there was this turn thing which would set the position of the laser, he adjusted it so my dvd originals bootet, when i got home... i found out all the non dvd games didnt boot anymore....
Anyone got a better solution????
Mind Gamez Oct 26, 2002, 03:03 PM Yeah' he has the right solution he just didn't test it better. Adjust the pots which is the turn thing you describe is trial and error if you don't know exactly how much to crank it. This can take hours, in between it you will have to test each type of disc while turning it to see if it will boot. When it boots everything your done. I would seriously consider what Jaice stated, Walmart is the best repair place out of them all ; )
Jaice Oct 26, 2002, 05:38 PM Lasers probably off track.
Pschyco~Jerk Oct 28, 2002, 01:40 AM Yup laser is off track now im gonna spend my free time turning a turn thingy..... jeez....
