You mean it can play CD-R backups? Sounds like your laser is messed up. If it won't play any original DVD based games or DVD movie.

Try cleaning the laser and the media (original) if that doesn't work. You can always adjust your DVD laser POT. I wouldn't recommend it if you dunno what you are doing.
