i upgraded a friends comp from 98 to xp, and now his usb driven webcam, & scanner wont work!! it says need usb supplement ??? how do i get this, and would it be better to do a fresh full install ???

It could be that the webcam and scanner aren't compatible with XP?
What I would do is look for updated drivers for them on the web.
And also, perhaps you need to upgrade/reinstall the motherboard's chipset drivers too.
