Hi guys

Ive just bought a 256mb compactflash card for my digital cam and the pda, but it only showed me 239mb in the pda. I formatted it when connected up thru a card reader to my pc (running XP pro) and now it shows me 238mb!! Just lost another mb.. doh.

Ive spoke to the place i got it from and they are prepared to replace it. They also mentioned that i should format it in a 4k cluster - but i cannot find this option within XP.. any ideas? I only get the option to use the default format.. which i dont want.

Are there any other progs out there that let me choose the cluster size for this?

Thanks in advance peeps.

I know Partition Magic allows you to resize clusters but I have no idea if it will work with a CF card.

Use the camera itself to format the card.

All compact flash devices expect all compact flash cards to be formatted in a certain way per industry standard. You can't change the default allocation size of a compact card. In fact, if you could most camera's won't be able to access them at all.

Do as Hothi said and format it in the camera.
