my burner wont even open. when i go into my computer, i dont even see it there. what do i do? my burner came with a *** compaq presario 7595. please help me. thank u

During the bootup the system will list the devices found. pay attention to the CDROM drives listed. If it's not there then it sounds like it isn't getting any power.
Whip off the case and check the power and IDE leads to the drive. make sure they are well seated. If there is another power lead spare then swap them over.

If it's there during boot up then check in the Device Manager. Click on Start -> settings -> control panel -> system -> device manager, expand the CDROM list to see if the burner is listed.
If it is but has yellow exclamation mark next to it you have a device conflict, right click on the burner , Select remove & reboot.
If the burner isn't in the list but you have a DVD/CDROM there right click on it & remove. That will force the O/S to scan the IDE devices again and it may find your burner.
