i think your going to say player but i herd the the on board sound is good on this board.

also whats the fastest cpu i can put in this case atm?

also i used a thermal pad when i built the pc can this cause any problems when upgradeing the cpu?

The latest BIOS 020809 is said to support XP 2400+ and 2600+ CPU. I haven't tried those due to avalability but I'm running a 2200+ on 1 of the rev.3.1A boards at 147/147 overclocked FSB solid as a rock.

When changing CPU, make sure you have removed all thermal pad completely. It'll take a little more time but not too bad to remove the tape. It'd be hard to remove the heatsink from the CPU, though. For more efficient heat transfer, use thermal paste instead (especially when you're gonna OC).

If your board uses the C-Media sound, the sound would not be so bad.

If you want to be able to run the 2400+ or 2600+, get the 020809 BIOS.

On the other hand, if you're not gonna run the 2400+/2600+ and have no problems then do not do the BIOS flash.

The sound on the K7S5A is 2-channel stereo...where the SB 5.1 is just that, 5.1 channel surround sound.

The fastest I would say is 2600+ for 266 FSB. With OC, you may be able to push it a little more than 2600+.

If your happy with your onboard sound and have no porblems with it just stick with it, btw if you do choose to install sb live 5.1 make sure you turn off your onboard sound in the bios.
