What burner will be better for backing up ps2 and computer games? I read the slowest the Lite On can burn is 8x and im not sure how good that will be for games. I always burned them at 1x with my TDK burner. Can the Lite On burn as good at 8x as the others can burn at 1x?

Help me make my decision. Lite On or Plextor?

There's not really too much between them m8 IMHO.

I run two Litey 24X drives and have no problems backing up PSX games at 8X. The overall quality of the backups seem to be fine. I know the Plex will burn at lower speeds but to tell the truth I've not needed to record anything lower than 8X since I've been using this drive. And of course the LiteOn is cheaper than the Plex, but don't even think about letting that put you off. They are both great drives.

Hope this helps. :)

Well, the slowest speed I've used is 16X with my 24X lite-on's......and that was because the media couldn't handle higher writespeed.

Have you burned PSX games at 16X or higher OC?

If so did you notice any downside in quality etc.?

I hate to admit it but you should probably pickup the LiteOn drive if you plan on backing up any new PC software... I say this because ever since Macrovision has updated their Safedisc 2 to version 2.51.021 (currently the only games with this version are Medal of Honor Allied Assault and Serious Sam, Second Encounter) the Plextor can no longer copy it...I use the newest version of CloneCD and have been using Clone for ages and I'm very proficient...hopefully Elaborate Bytes will find out why this is and take care of it with a software upgrade....PLEASE!!! I love my Plexi :hdspin:

From what I have read initial reports on SD 2.51.021 were somewhat blown up..

The following burners have reported success that work in other devices:

Lite-On LTR 12102B, 24x & 32x
Plextor PX-1210A 1610A & 2410A
Plextor PX-W8220 SCSI
Plextor PX-R820 (SCSI)
LG GCE-8160B
Philips PCRW-804K/B (Atapi)
Acer CRW-1208A

Some writers just have more trouble than others.

Thanks for all your replies guys! I will get the lite on. My cousin is getting one next week in his new computer, so I will see first hand how it is then.

Thanks Again.
