What are your predictions for what the prices and speeds of dvd burners will be in the next few years? For example an entry level dvd burner costs 250 and writes at 2x speed today. Guesses: in one year, entry level dvd burner costs 150 and writes at 4x speed, in 2 years, cost 100 and writes at 8x speed. What are your guesses?

It seems like dvd burners have dropped in price significantly in the past year. One year ago, an entry level 2x dvd-burner costs about 500, but now you can get one for about 250. Right now, 4x dvd-burners are already coming out, and I heard that 8x dvd-burners should be available by next year.

I remember about 15-18 months ago the Pioneer a-03 was £600-700.

Well I think next year, it's gonna be dominated by 4x, and we'll see a faster one in 2004.
Well dvd is slowly becoming the standard media of choice, dvd movies, games, pretty soon dvd music? (linkin park released a dvd music of thier reanimation cd which sound alot better then thier cd released)
