Problem Installin the Sims

Ok Im having a wierd problem installing the sims. Im running windows xp on two different hd's, an when I try installing it on one hd nothin happens, it just sits. But when I try on hte other one it works. Any idea why it wouldnt work on the other one? I think I possibly deleted a file I might have needed. Any help?

Are these burnt copies, because if so...might be a bad burn?
Or try running the setup from the disc if you have auto insert on
That's all i can think of right now...

But they will work on the other hard drive fine. I must be missing a file to install games on my hard drive.
