Ok heres My story My cousing Gave me a used Xbox With the Original

Hard Drive burn!!(damage) I dont know nothing about xbox , Pcs are my hooby. Well back to the point i have a brand new Pc hard drive 30 gigs, Can i use that HD in the xbox ? What OS (windows 9x,XP,ETC?) the xbox
use? Where can i download the original xbox software ( media player, Clock, ETc) Dont have any mod on it !! Is a regular Xbox !! What can i do?

Any 1??? Im a newbie so if you guys can help me w a step by step it would be helpfull!!

You can't put a different hard drive in a xbox without a modchip that supports it.

I'm a chip installer, also do hard drives.....getting the new drive to work properly isn't the easiest task (for a newbie) since the original hard drive is locked to the motherboard. Cursor is right, you must have a Mod chip. Drop Me an E-mail at knuef69@hotmail.com We can work something out.

Yep, you definately need a new modchip that supports a hard drive change. the hard drive change can be quite simple for a PC person, but I admit, I got my XBox chipped elsewhere, and the initial software put on it for me. A few days later though I was quite equiped to do the hard drive swap myself. I think you need to do ALOT of reading, as you're starting from the beginning.

Either that, or get the whole lot done by someone else.
