ok ive just baught an xbox
if i get the matrix chip flash it with evox2.5 blue
wack it in the machine
is that all i need to do to load a backup xbox game or is ther more to it??

Yes, that setup would work to play backups, check the modchip installation section if you have problems putting it in.

what s the xbox dash that eveyone refers to what is it and what does it do
and do u need it to load backups??

original Xboxdash is what you see when you boot up normally (without a mod) if you only installed the matrix with the blue. You are fine, you can run backups already.

If you want to FTP access to the XBox to make your own backups, then you need to have evox dash.

There are a lot of info on the forum on that. Check the FAQ folder as well.

what if i want to run divix files??
also waht sort of cable do i need to hook up the matrix to flash it??

Don't use a cable you will fry the programmer, read the modchip forum if you need help programming it.

Program it first, make sure you can run backups. Then worry about streaming Divx files.(You'll need to install mediaplayer) Read the FAQ, there is a tutorial on mediaplayer.

ok how do i know what verson my xbox is so i know if the matrix will work on it
all i can see is the manufacturing date which is 2002-04-02

I don't think it will literally say "V1." You can just tell by the date.
