I just bought a new copy of toejam and earl III for the xbox, and I noticed something. Because of all these people with problems of Splinter Cell patching the dashboard I thought I would take a look at the disc in evox before booting the game, and low and behold I thing I found something.
In the top level directory, where there is usually the default.xbe and directories there are a few xbe files that I'm wondering about. They are called.
dashupdate.xbe
update.xbe
downloader.xbe
None of my other games have files like this, and since I've got evox with an enigmah in my box I want to be cautious before trying the game. Has anyone tried this game on a system with evox running as xboxdash.xbe?

what about if I rip/burn the game to a dvd-r and remove those .xbe files from the disc. Is it possible that the game will not run without these xbe files? Not that I would actually bother to do that since I already have the game, I'm just curious.....

there was only a problem with splinter cell when the download button was pushed in the menu, so you should be fine

Sorry to jump on your post here.
With all this stuff about games patching the M$dash, it only messes it up if you use the evox dash right? Since I'm planning on removing my Evo-X soon I really have nothing to worry about right?

just use a yboxdash bios file (people with matrix and openboxx that is) rename evoxdash to yboxdash and link to xboxdash in evox

can someone help. I had my xbox chipped ages ago. The people swore blind it was not a beta enigmah, but the full deal. Anyways...i recently got splinter cell and tony hawk 4...and they wont work. I had several copies...so i know its not a dodgy disk. Whats this Evo-X that everyone is talking about? I hear, all i have to do, to get it to work on my machine...is patch the game...with a simple file...is this true?? OR do i need something else on my xbox??
Cheers,
Dan.
