I managed to back up the THE THING from DVD to CDRW by removing the language directories before creating an ISO ... (well all of them but the english one ;))

This made it small enough to fit onto a CDRW (i currently dont have a dvd burner!) and it plays fine ...

Has anyone got any ideas on how to do this with other games ...

With project gotham I've removed the XDEMOS directory but it is still 2.1gigs ... same with halo ... could remove XDEMOS but still too big to fit onto CDRW

Long term I will be buying a DVD BURNER ... but has anyone got any suggestions on other things that can be done to make the ISO smaller ...

thanks

Ripping out audio, relinking etc. Downsample video would all help. I would leave that to the release groups. Just download the ripped CD-R version if you have broadband. If not, there are rip kits that you can follow to do it.

I think that game is small, the one for PS2 is on CD, I reneted it from blockbuster and I thought it would be DVD. Easy copy.

With other games, movies, sound, extras, and lanuages, and other unneeded stuff can be removed, most files names describe them.
