I am trying to burn a copy of Boxplorer onto a CDRW, but my xbox wont read it... I was wondering if there is a list somewhere that has the brands of CDRWs/CDRs that work on the XBOX... if there isnt what kind of discs do you use?

There was a list I saw somewhere else on another site, but it's kind of pointless. One brand that works well on someone else's XBox dvd drive might not work on yours.
Just try out some brands and find one that your XBox likes. Usually the higher quality ones read better but cost a bit more.

Most CDRW's work, only some CD-rs work.

Its just trial and error really. I even found it to be tempremental between two CDRW that were exactly the same and came out of the same box of ten!!! They were Sony ones, i then found a much cheaper brand that was more reliable.

can you change the dvd rom drive w/ any mod chip? or is it like the hard drive where it can only be changed w/ certain mod chips?

I'm not sure, but have a look at the tutorial on xbox-scene.com. I think though, if you change the ROM drive for a PC one, you cna no longer play XBox originals. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I use CompUSA 700MB CD-RW's, Imation 650MB CD-RW's, and Memorex 4.7GB DVD-R's, and they all boot FLAWLESSLY on my Xbox. The thing is, if you're installing boxplorer, you're gonna want to add some other apps in the apps folder before hand, or a big dummy file, as the Xbox usually won't read a disc that's smaller than 30MB or so.
