I have the 40-12-48 liteon I made a copy of AOE2 and I still get the need the correct CD message.
it's also the same when I download a clone CD image and burn it with liteon, I still need the no CD crack
anyone know Y is this? arn't backups made with Liteon and CloneCD pass the protection??
do I need to change some options in CloneCD before I burn the games?

Thanks for any help on this

First, are you trying to play the game from a 'standard' CD-ROM / DVD drive, or the burner itself?

If you are trying to play from the burner, that is the problem. You need to enable HIDE CD-R Media. OR, play from a CD-ROM drive / DVD drive.

If you are playing from a 'standard' drive & still have this problem, you most likely have the wrong settings. What settings did you use? What speeds?

I would think that AOE2 was too early to use an ATIP check.. Does the image work ok when mounted with Daemon-Tools or Alcohol??

It may have been, but I have heard of some instances where copies that were not burned properly would not work in burners for some strange reason.

if its the newer ver of SD2 (2.5 and above i think) then no matter how perfect the copy if it is used in a cdr/w drive then it will not work with something like clone cd's hide cdr function.
but that far back i doubt that is the case.
make sure under read and write options you include sub chanell data and audio and Amplify weak sectors

SafeDisc and SD2 for that matter does not require any subchannel data. Also SD1 doesn't need AWS, neither does SD2 using a Lite-On 40X.

I'm pretty sure that EO2 is just protected with SD1.. Read with FES enabled and write in at least RAW SAO.

Thanks for all the info. and help everyone.
I have been using my burnar to play the games, so I think that would be the problem.
at the moment I don't have a CD drive I only have burners on my PC, I can't realy try them yet. but in few days I'll have my new PC with a CD drive and I'll try it out on it.
again Thanks for ALL the HELP, didn't know it matters if run the game from CD-r or CD drives
