Is it true certain backups of certain games can nuke the x box with the x box live prog on the disc ?

i have been told it affects Time splitters 2 & chase.
I've also seen other posts to this affect but no constructive responses.

ive got timesplitters 2 and chase and they have done nothing to my xbox

Are these to coin a phrase with origonals or back ups.

just dont select the option to use XBL and there is nothing to worry about.
