raiden1817 Oct 29, 2002, 06:55 AM I heard that the 64 MB version actually runs games faster because it has a higher clock frequency and most games only need to use 64 MB of memory, not 128 MB. Should I buy the 64 MB or the 128 MB version? Why would I buy the 128 MB version if the 64 MB version is less expensive and runs most games faster?
itsallgood Oct 29, 2002, 07:05 AM it depends what your going to use it for.
if your just going to play games, it would be fine, but if your into things like DVD ripping, 3d arts, etc, the higher one would be better.
But when games start demanding for 128mb you'll have to get a new card if you go for the lower priced 64meg
take a look at:

its got a review comparing the 64 and the 128
hope this helps.
- id go for the 128, it will be better in the long run, and it will sound better when your bragging to your mates. :)
raiden1817 Oct 29, 2002, 07:17 AM Your link doesn't work. I will be using the video card mostly for games, such as unreal tournament 2003, no one lives forever 2, the elder scrolls 3 morrowind, rallysport challenge, and upcoming games like metal gear solid substance, splinter cell, doom 3, and all the most graphically impressive games. I would like to get the 128 MB version cause it sounds a lot better (double the memory), and there's only a 20 dollar difference on pricewatch, 115 for the 64 MB version and 135 for the 128 MB version.

MattRT Oct 29, 2002, 10:30 PM I doubt that you would notice the difference at the moment, not many if any games at present take advantage of the 128mb, and you can tweak the 64mb 4200 nearly as fast as the 128mb 4600
thcomputers Oct 30, 2002, 08:17 AM nothing will require 128mb at the moment but in the future who knows
Slash1 Oct 30, 2002, 11:51 AM The 128 cards can emulate a 64 meg card. There is no reason to get the 64.
Sporting Oct 30, 2002, 07:27 PM Hi,
i got the 128mb card, the 64mb has faster memory but you`ll want more in a year or so, to save cash get the 128mb will last longer in your p.c...
dont u get sick of replaceing bits in your tower !!!
Jaice Oct 30, 2002, 11:35 PM Only the clock speed of the 64 is faster, not the Actuall Speed.
The 128 gets much better scores.
www.pricewatch has them for about the same price, but I haven't look in weeks.
fawlty Oct 31, 2002, 09:26 PM I got a 128 because it should last longer (i.e. be able to handle newer games). It goes plenty fast enough without overclocking to max.
king bush Nov 01, 2002, 06:04 AM Id go for the 128 ,it will last longer
Bob and Sam Nov 01, 2002, 04:33 PM 64mb dont buy for the future .. you'll be upgrading anyway just like everyone else in 12months time
lance790 Nov 01, 2002, 04:46 PM 128mb
