Hello, I am debating whether I should buy an xbox or a geforce 4 ti 4200 video card. I currently own a pc with a 1200 mhz athlon processor and 256 mb sdram. My question is what graphics card is more powerful, a geforce 4 ti 4200 or the graphics synthesizer in the xbox? With what video card will I get better graphics, performance, framerates? If I get games that will come out on both pc and xbox, such as unreal tournament 2003, splinter cell, metal gear solid substance, rallysport challenge, wwe raw, need for speed hot pursuit 2, the elder scrolls 3: morrowind, enclave, doom 3, etc., which will have better graphics? I need to decide, cause I, like most people, don't have money to buy both an xbox and get an expensive video card, plus I already have a ps2. Thanks for any input.

yep, xbox is better. the developer can push the xbox to the limit because they know excatly what kind of hardware they are dealing with. but i think playing unreal tournament 2003 is better on computer because of keyboard and mouse.

I'm still not sure. I don't need the xbox for watching dvd movies cause I already use my ps2 for that. A premodified xbox costs about 275 whereas a geforce 4 ti 4200 64 MB only costs 115. I already have a decent pc with a sufficient processor and ram. I thought geforce 4 has features more advanced than the geforce 3 in the xbox.

yes the geforce 4 is more advanced than the xbox geforce 3 but as fisherman said it is dedicated hardware so games can be optimized for a single setup that is one of the reasons game consoles outperform pcs with much higher specs also there is no operating system running in the background which loses u about 25 % of ur system power but if there is that much difference in price and u already have a decent pc u may just be better stickin with the pc .in UK xbox isnt much dearer than a geforce 4 ti 4200

get the graphic card, just got Rallisport Challenge for the pc,looks so much better with a geforce Ti 4600 on a monitor then the refresh rate you get on a tv.,,,but a word or warning your 1.2 cpu will still be the limit factor..

doom, unreal ect,ect are just designed for PC play, you cannot use a controller for these type of games on a console,it just doesn't work right,.

I finished Halo on the xbox, although a very good game and the controls via controller was the best setup to date,i still cannot wait to play this on a pc with a mouse/keyboard/higher resolution situation.

Of course the G4 is more powerful than the X-box processor, because the Xbox GPU processor was built upon the G3 one, with more filters, compressors and other stuff to make it optimal at lower processing power.

Go with the xbox & if 6-12 mth's you need to upgrade to a G4 on your PC you should e able to pick up a very cheap one by then m8.
