I read that graphics cards double in performance every 6 months, which is the graphics card cycle. Is this true? And how much do graphics cards drop in price? If it only takes 6 months for graphics card to double in performance, it should only take 6 months for graphics cards to drop to half its value. For example when the nvidia geforce 3 first came out in may of 2001, correct me if I'm wrong, it was 400-500 dollars. Now it's only 100 dollars or less. When the geforce 4 ti 4600 came out in february of this year, it was over 400 dollars, it's now around 200.

Usually the price nose-dives just after you've bought one!!
